Iosia’s case is just one of too many! The fight for justice continues daily! On August 28th, I joined hundreds of other family members who’s loved ones have had a loved one murdered by police for a March and Rally in Washington DC! THANK YOU to everyone who supported me for the trip! It was the 58th anniversary of the original march on Washington, one of the most powerful expressions of the modern-day movement for civil rights in the anti-police brutality struggle. The march and rally demands were: Reopen and re-investigate all cases that allege police violence and prosecute police who brutalize and kill.

An art installation was set up at the Washington Monument that showcased Iosia and more than three hundred other loved ones who are no longer with us.

I was interviewed by students at the Samuel Proctor Oral History Program at the University of Florida, sharing Iosia’s story and our family’s continued search for justice! It will be archived in a digital collection and available for use by research scholars, students, journalists, genealogists, and the public.
After all the families had a chance to share about their loved one on the national stage, and be interviewed, we marched from the Washington Monument to the Department of Justice! Centering our loved ones, we took to the streets calling out for accountability! We are demanding that ALL cases where police have murdered our loved ones are reopened! At the DOJ we heard from Emmett Till’s cousin Deborah Watts, who are finally starting to see some accountability as his case has been reopened 66 after his murder! Standing in Solidarity, we will never stop fighting for justice!

Again, THANK YOU to all those that donated to my GoFundMe, and straight to my venmo with no fees: @po-Leapai you all made it so I could go and share Iosia’s story as we continue to fight for justice! THANK YOU to the other impacted families that organized the historic day and actionI I am home now, inspired and re-energized, and excited to continue the fight to reopen Iosia’s case, and ALL others!
